Maxitherm ducting insulation is manufactured from 3M thinsulate material. Thinsulate is a compressible fabric, the sleeving when stored is perhaps 8-9mm thick, but may expand slightly larger when 'rested'. Hope that helps, tried to illustrate with a photo
