High altitude vehicle heaters automatically adjust the air to fuel ratio to ensure you stay warm inside your vehicle. If you have a standard heater in your vehicle, without a HAK (high altitude kit), at altitudes above 1800 metres you will typically experience poor combustion (smoke), carbon build-up and the heater failing to ignite.
